Beginners who are new to Texas Holdem online may not know that there are three different limits to play at the online poker rooms. They are micro limit, low limit, and high limit. micro limit poker has the smallest amount of betting restrictions. Low limit poker has the most aggressive players yet it is also the smallest limit. The Texas Holdem game is always changing. It can take hours to read and learn the nitty gritty of the game. If a beginner is used to playing at micro limit tables, they may feel overwhelmed if they try to play at high limits for the first time. In addition, some micro limit tables are tight orite tables where the majority of players play far too tight. High limits on the other hand, have a looser atmosphere.
If you know you are comfortable playing at a certain limit, try the higher limit tables that are not as good and don’t risk the money you might have earned at a low limit table to play at the high limit poker table. Although many of the same rules apply to the two different limits, there are some major differences. The big blind for the low limit table may be $0.25, whereas the high limit table may be $2 or $3. If you want to stay at the low limit table, you simply buy-in for the same amount of money and play far fewer hands. The benefit of this is that you don’t risk as much of your initial bankroll to win as much money for your poker account. Playback is often more frequent and gives you more opportunities to win money for your poker account.
Many poker players who are new to the game of poker online, some time go bankroll depleted. Whenever you go bankroll depleted, you really have to reduce you’re playing, limit-By-Limit. Last year, I had a particularly bad run of luck. I lost nearly 40 buy-ins on the WSOP (World Series of Poker). Because I always rely on luck to make a profit, I decreased my limits and started playing unders. I had been playing as many as 100 tournaments at once, which is a lot of tournaments for a poker player. You may ask, what made it so bad? Well, I would have to say it was boredom. Boredom can cause your mind to lose its focus and you can end up playing too many tables. When you are bored, you will often play when you are tired or not have a strong desire to play. This is the reason I stopped playing big tourneys and concentrated on cash games. At least when I started playing cash games, I was always in the red.
Cash games are the greatest thing you can do with your money. You can go to sleep on Sunday with $3,000 deposit in your bank account and wake up Monday with $6,000. In a cash game, you will have a lot of games going on and a lot of opportunities to make a lot of money. Online poker is so easy that you can play 30 to 60 or more tournaments at a time. That’s how I make a lot of my money. Cash games are definitely for the busy person.
I started playing cash games at the dining hall at the local health food store. I had a hard time getting a buy-in. The health food store only takes cash. Oh the places that they serve lunch are county events so they cater to the competition. Guess what? Everybody loses. They don’t cater to the fish, they cater to the main stream–the bandwagon walkers. The fish need a place to get their because the others are so horrible.
I guess what I am trying to say is maybe it is time to adapt your own strategy. If you are playing at a remipoker, do not let on that you have one. How would you feel? What would the dealer at a Las Vegas casino say if I came in and started playing the sportbook? I would think they would put a shiny puck on my forehead that says “Here is $100,000 Mike. Go get it!” I guess the only rule is that the puck passed from one person to the next until it gets lucky and lands on your head.
Therein lies the essence of the problem. People make the mistake of playing with too many books, or playing in a “queen scratch” level. When you play too many hands, you commit the soft five. But, when you play just a few, you become the beast. When you are aggressive, the other players–especially the women–will fear you. They will want to hide the value of their hands. They will want to make it hard for you to see your hole cards and so they will decide to over-raise, or under-raise, or just plain push you off your hand. Watch for these cracks. They are there. They are predictable.
