OK so here is my point, if you do decide to learn to play poker, and to learn to win, you will have to take a lot of risk in the process. You will have learning curves, you will face a lot of variance and most of the time you will just lose. I faced this and nearly quit playing football starting about the same time I decided to quit playing football. It is going to take a lot of hard work and a lot of trial and error to master your poker strategy. You will also encounter bad beats and you will make some bad decisions along the way.
Now slow down a bit. Start with a tournament and a bankroll that you can afford to buy into. Do not start into a big money game unless you have ATLEAST 20 buy ins. This rule will insure that you have enough money to continue to the higher levels of poker as your bankroll grows. Now this will not apply to cash games, which is a whole different article.
